Our Spring Dance Workshop is in full swing at To the Pointe Dance Studio on Lyons, and we’re thrilled to share a few highlights from both of our weekly sessions.

This year, we’re offering two different workshops: an all-ages fan dance class and a kids-only bamboo scroll dance for younger dancers. Both groups are preparing unique performances rooted in traditional Chinese dance and culture, with movement adapted for a wide range of ages and experience levels.

🌸 All-Ages White Feather Fan Dance

The all-ages (10+) workshop is learning a flowing fan dance to the iconic song “Ye Shanghai,” a piece rich in history and atmosphere. Dancers of all experience levels are bringing this beautiful choreography to life, blending elegance with expressiveness.

The soft, sweeping movements of the feather fans require control and grace, and each week our dancers have grown more confident in both technique and timing. It’s been a joy watching participants develop their own style while staying true to the traditional form.

📜 Kids Bamboo Scroll Dance at our Santa Clarita Dance Workshop

In the kids-only session, dancers ages 4 to 10 are working on a traditional bamboo scroll dance inspired by Confucian teachings. The dance features simple, fun choreography and a short poem recitation, helping students connect with cultural traditions in an engaging, age-appropriate way.

As the kids twirl with scrolls in hand, they’re also learning about rhythm, teamwork, and storytelling. The poem they recite during the dance helps them understand the meaning behind the movements, adding a thoughtful layer to their energetic performances.

Both our Spring Dance Workshops will culminate in a live performance later this spring, and we can’t wait to share the final results with the community.

Stay tuned for performance details coming soon, and thank you to everyone who joined us this season!
